Contrary to what is commonly claimed by politicians, the central bank is not independent of the state. It is based on the strength of the State to ensure its monopoly and the application of legal tender; and the latter depends on the central bank to take a seigneury. The central bank is thus only an institution that plays a role in the state apparatus.
